Author’s Note: the following list of plant species is not comprehensive. Where recorded data is lacking for Ontario and Québec-centred Algonquin Anishinaabeg, liberty was taken to use data from across Algonquin-speaking First Nations – specifically Cree, Chippewa, Malecite, and Mi’kmaq. The premise is that language communicates knowledge, ideas, and world views across community boundaries. In this way, the author seeks not to offend but to facilitate a discourse for revitalizing traditional knowledge lost or displaced through the impacts of colonialism.
